Amador was built during the construction of the Panama Canal. It includes a 2.5 Km causeway, built with the ruble from the excavation of the Canal, that connects three islands (Naos, Flamenco and Perico) which serves as a wave breaker and protect its entrance.
Because of its strategic location it used to be an American fort for the protection of the entrance of the Canal, and is today one of the most visited areas of Panamá.
